My rear diff. is hitting the gas tank!

The rear differential of my Jeep is hitting the gas tank when I hit a big dip in the road or the such. It is an 89 Jeep Wrangler with a Dana 60 and the 15 gallon tank. Is there an easy way to fix this, or do I need to relocate the gas tank or the axle?

i also have a dana 60 in a '89 YJ, mine don't touch, but is very close, maybe because after installing a 2" body lift, i moved my gas tank(15 gallon) and skid plate back up next to the body. it's at a slight angle now (front low) but it's been like that for about 3 years with no problems.

no quick tricks. you can redrill the leaf pack center pin hole and move the axle forward to clear. the body lift tank relocate is common here in the NW.

Add a bump stop so the axle hits it before contact is made with the tank. Four Wheel Drive Hardware has bumpstops and brackets to extend them.

I have a 1986 cj-7 with the Dana 44 rear and large factory gas tank. My pumpkin also hits the tank cover during extremearticulation. Mine is just rubbing however.
