My city just regulated what hobbies we can have...

Well, it's all but final,
The city Council just passed the resolution for the removal of all 'Junk' vehicles.
Anything that is inoperable,
Anything that is not licensed & insured.
Anything that is not 'Street Legal'.
Being under a tarp, inside a privacy fence, or on a trailer doesn't matter.

If you get tagged, you have 72 hours to comply with the ordnance.
After 72 hours, It's $50 a day fine...
And towing your vehicle off after 10 days.
Tow and destruction totaling not less than $500 will be added to your property tax bill, plus you are still liable for the fines.

No more off road vehicles that don't conform to the letter of the law as 'Street Legal'.
No more race cars on, off or IN trailers.
No 'Car Parts' of any kind.

The only exception is inside of a closed garage that no part of the vehicle is visible from public land.

Anybody want to buy 11 houses in my neighborhood?
As of tonight, I have my house, and 10 rentals for sale.

I own my dad's home, but he likes it in town, so that one isn't for sale.

Looks like I'm going to spend the next week or so loading up and moving vehicles...
--------------------

On the flip side of this, the city 'beautification' they are talking about encourages the 'citizens' to use yards as 'Art'...

Anyone know where I can get some yard 'Art', like a large cement statue of 'David' or 'Venus De Milo' or Botticelli's 'The Birth Of Venus'?
I really need to make a trip to the local 'Yard Art' store and see what's in the catalog of molds...

I'm sure Greek & Roman nudes will make my neighbors happy!
They are right wing, GWB supporting, bible thumping prudes!
I think a little european art education is in order for this tight ass crowd!

Old news where I live. Has been going on for the last few years. My only ace in the hole is the fact that since I work in a yard and am around cars/junk/(can't live without kinda stuff............I DON'T want to bring it home. I had a few neighbors that were less than happy about having to lose their "collection". I don't see it as right, but there were a couple that had no desire to hide their dozen "priceless heirlooms" except in the front yard. Thats BS. It's also BS for the most that had an "extra" car that wasn't tagged and insured to get nailed.

I'm waiting for a few to pipe up on this board that have had the problems. I know I have talked to more than a couple about this type of thing.

BTW........HOA=BS and neighborhood nazi's.........so never vote one in if you don't know about them. If something needs done around you......band together and deal with it. Just my $.02.

BUY MY CUSTOM STICKERS!!!!!!

((good women are REALLY hard to find! She buys me Jeep parts, never complains when I buy guns, Jeep parts,
And she makes GREAT sausage gravy!)TR

Contact Good Sam - the RV people. They've been fighting laws like this all over the country - successfully!

I remember reading about a guy that they helped that his award winning antique show vehicle towed and scrapped!
It was INSIDE his garage, they waited until he opened the door one day, took a picture of it, then used that as proof it could be seen from the street. They came inside with a warrant and removed it even though the door was closed at the time! Before he could get help they crushed it! Good Sam was suing on his behalf for lots of $$$ to replace it - and to drop the ordnance.

Get their lawyers involved!

And - check out all the city council members homes themselves - and other city "officials" you'll probably find at least one in violation himself! You can make a big stink about it - maybe even get it repealed.

I lived in Arcadia, CA for awhile - they passed an ordnance that all driveways had to be cement, not asphalt! Years before there had been an ordnance prohibiting cement, it had to be asphalt. Many homes had to re-do their driveways.
Turned out one of the council members owned the ONLY "city approved" cement driveway contractor!

Arcadia also passed a requirement that only approved trash dumpsters could be used - same story, a brother in law owned the dumpster distributor.

Monrovia passed one saying no vehicle could be parked on an unpaved surface! All the city lots, including the police department and the courthouse were gravel. Even two council members had dirt driveways. Once that came out, it was dropped.

There's usually a story behind these kinds of stupid laws - do a little research to find the crookedness. Once found, a few articles in a neighboring city's paper (your local paper won't print it) and often you can reverse these things - or get shot through the window in your living room!

In this tiny little town there's a big stink going on right now - people were fired from the water board - after one of the board members used water company funds to buy himself a big life insurance policy - 2 weeks after he died! He came back to life to sign it!

The other part of the same water board stink is one of the board members owns a water hauling company. (Most here have to have their water trucked in.)
She gets the water for free and sells it at above competitive prices. The county approved a measure requiring a special permit to sell water - she's the only one with a permit!

Now you can see the reason for my bill I've been promoting - mandatory 2 term limits for ALL politicians - one in office, one in prison!

I got a ticket for parking my small motorhome on the street in front of a friends house - daytime, 1 hour, residential district, no signs indicating anything - "you just had to know." while we were loading it for a trip.

I won that one in court - but the judge said before entering his city I should check ALL the laws of that city! What a stupid statement!

SIG HIEL!

We need another party like they held in Boston. But this time throw the politicians overboard!

Nope, taking my money elsewhere... Instead of pissing it away on lawyers.

In the meantime, I want something really obnoxious for the lawn...
Something that can be covered under 'Art' or 'Religion' so it takes forever to get rid of...
Something like Wiccan or Pagan religious artifacts would be good, so you could always cry 'Religious Persecution'....

Greek art was good about nudes, so some of them would be good.

Anything to offend the 'Delicate Sensibilities' of the 'Militant Mommie Squad' and give them something else to flair up their hemorrhoids!
Religion and nudity are two things that make them pop a nipple every time!
Combine them and I'm sure to put a real throne in some ones side!
Create a pain for me, I'll return it in kind...

I can honestly get you a good deal on a 15 foot fiberglass rooster. if they bitch about it write them a serious letter asking why they don't consider your cock a work of art...

BTW, check your PM's on an unrelated subject

It's not what you have. It's what you do with what you have

I just had to bring home two of my project cars and put them in my garage because of a vehicle abatement program here in CA. It's a little more lenient than what you're describing, but basically the same. We had a bunch of projects stored on some land a friend owns. One day the county came through and tagged all the cars. They have to be stored indoors or else. I can have them in my garage, though. They can't tag it if I can close the door.

But I was NOT ready to bring two non-running vehicles home right now. I already have two projects going.

These abatement laws really are draconian, and make no provisions whatsoever for the hobbyist/enthusiast, unless of course you have gobs of money and can afford to buy some land and put a big building on it.

"And then I said, 'Just like that, but with more gas!' Oops..."

Park you vehicles in a lower case "t" pattern. Tell them it is a religious cross.
Or park them is a circle - Stonehenge.

I drive over things.

I think that you should build a big cross and cement it in the front yard. I always laugh when I pass the one on I75 going to knoxville that is about 50ft tall and sits next door to a porn shop.
