Cj7 freshening project

I posted my pics on a local forum and thought i would try a more public venue.

It's been hard getting motivated to work on the heep lately so i am hoping posting a build will help get me on track.

Goal is to make the rig safe for my twin girls to someday ride in the back and make it look perty for the wife. Ok so i am tired of it looking like a heep too.

current projects
  • Cage is 90% done, just need to add 3 more bars, gusset some areas, get the rust off, tie to frame, and paint it.
  • New leather seats are mounted and tied in to cage.
  • Started building center console and custom dash.
  • Mounted new shifter and made twin stick cable shifters.
  • Started tube fenders

projects up next
  • bumpers
  • sliders
  • plate rear quarters
  • new tcase mount/skid
  • traction bar
  • herculine interior
  • paint it all

twin stick cable shifters for the dana 20 and new auto shifter for the th400. It's a gate shifter with the reverse lockout removed to make it more like an art carr for less $. Worked real nice on my last trip out and the cable tcase shifters shifted a bit better than the old twin linkage.

New seats are from a Chrysler Sebring convertible. Nice to have the seatbelts built in. Made seat brackets tied in to cage. The start of the center console.

I dont know about the 10 bolt but for the 44 i got flat top knuckles tapped for high steer arms and 1.25" .250 dom tube tapped for left/right 3/4" heim joints as the draglink and tierod.
