What is there to do besides river running?

I haven't gotten my news letter yet, but every year they try to fill up two days with fun stuff. But, if your asking if there is any other 4x4 options... nope sorry.

On the other hand, Friday evening is set up followed by Kareokee(sp?). Saturday usually starts out with some sort of off the wall activity. In the past there have been golf scrambles... played in the river or on a real course, poker runs are almost every year. Later in the day they set up another activity. In the past couple years this has been Jeep pulls (home fabbed sled, allowing anyone who wants to try and tug it across the sand), blind folded co-piot driving obsticle course (this is a real hoot, a barrel course, including water crossings, the driver is blindfolded and a passenger has to tell him-her where to go). In past years they have set up a "tire pit" to try and replicate a rock crawling type scenario.. seemed to work well.

Later in the afternoon, there is a large picture, then an old fashioned bar-b-que, dance with live music, and raffel. Then between the two main camp grounds everyone seems topretty much stay up most of the night socilializing and putting around in the dark.

This year, we may get lucky and have enough water for the air boats to take part. Some of these are truly awesome!

I'll get the skinny on the events lined up for this year and post back.

Is this the only hammer you've got?

You can't count on enough water for an airboat? Those things can run on a heavy morning dew! I've got to see that river some time. Is it sand or mud bottom?

That's just spooky! When I think of a river, it's the Mississippi, thirty or forty feet deep in lots of places around here. Driving into a river is not a good thing to do. With any device that doesn't float, it's probably the last time you'll ever see it.

yes stock rigs are welcome and able to have fun! My first year I brought a 99 grand cherokee, Every year I come my jeeps are DD's. This year with all the "extra" rain the river may be deeper, but generally it is just sand with a few holes or shallow crossings. If I remember correctly I did all of last year in 2wd (untill I had to tow a buddy) as soon as I unstraped him I was back in 2wd. Its a good time and all are welcome. Also there are lots of custom ideas to take home to your jeep.
See ya there
