Jumping Ship II

I'm wondering if the reasons for the Jumping Ship are:
  • We don't need no stinkin' Off-Topic Posts.
  • The Off-Topic Posts have become uncivil.
  • I hate the constant bickering.
  • There's not enough knowledge shared.
  • The knowlede that's shared is wrong.
  • This forum is full of dumb people.
  • I've outgrown what this forum has to offer me as a Jeeper.

IMHO, I don't see any shame/crime/problem with moving on if the place no longe feels like home. Years ago I wanted to see this forum like the ol' farts sittin' around the virtual cracker barrel at the general store swappin' lies, tellin' tales and sippin' root-beer floats.

No one likes it when someone comes in, kicks over the cracker barrel, tells everyone they're stupid, they are liars and starts kicking the ol' farts chairs out from under them.

Someone would call the police and haul the bad guy away and all the ol' farts would have something to gab about for a day or two.

I still want this froum to be open, and civil. Since the last post on Off-Topic's and arguments... things have gone better, and I appreciate it.

But, if you move on, well, we'll see ya on the flip side, or perhaps a trail or two. Have a GREAT LIFE! Drop by once in a while and catch us up on how you're doing.

Eh. It has been my opinion for a long, long time that people who REALLY want to leave do exactly that. They just leave. No fanfare, no big sobbing, "You don;t like me/I hate you/Can't we all just GET ALONG" sob fest post. One day you see them, then all of a sudden there's a "Hey, where did _________ go?" post about 6 months later.

If you post a big huge "I hate it here!" post, all you're really doing is looking for attention and/or confirmation.

If you want to leave, then go. Otherwise, SU.

"And then I said, 'Just like that, but with more gas!' Oops..."

For me, this has and is a great forum and yah things here have slowed down but I think that happens on all forums from time to time. I don't think it's just because people are jumping ship. People have lives outside the computer and tend to get realy buisy. For the last six months Ive been living on four to five hours of sleep a night and I just didn't fill like sitting at the computer.

As for the off topic posts, I think they are great ! It's kinda nice to have a place to ask a question and get an answer. We have a lot of good people here with good advice even on none jeep subjects. I thought being a jeeper was something bigger than life, helping friends and making new friends and not expecting anything in return. Just remember if it's happened to you then it has probably happened or will happen to someone else, so why not share your solution and make someones life a little less stressfull. If you don't like the off topic posts then don't read them and just try to mark it in your title so nobody gets offended and don't have to open it to see what it is....

Shouldn't this thread have been labeled O/T?

Hey Rich, if I throw the life preserver, will you jump overboard after it?

I have a cure for all this...
I went out after the rain, and got MUDDY!
Me and Heep looked like one giant dirt ball!

Took a friend along (learning to shoot & jeep) and we shot up about 400 rounds of .22 ammo.
Generally made a day of it!
Now I'm sunburned and sore again, and couldn't be happier!

You can't be thin skinned about difference of opinions, being corrected, etc here on the net. We are so isolated from each other that not everyone acts as civil as face to face. Take what you like and leave the rest. This place is a great fountain of knowledge and a suppository of ideas.

As a long time reader/ recent member of this forum I would like to say that I enjoy the Jeep stuff AND the OT stuff. If I only talked to and read about things that I agreed with I would begin to think I was right all the time; the GF assures me I'm not. I even read/ enjoyed the whole recent gun thread despite the fact it was way over my head. I miss the rants; though I know the first time I get flamed will be the true test. Being in the race business for a few decades creates a really tough hide. Dan
