I have an '85 4.2L (258 cu. in.) engine in my '79 CJ-7. I'm in the process of changing the timing chain. After i get the whole shootin' match back together I have to check the timing. Haynes says to check the under hood sticker. I have the grill shell from the donor Jeep. The sticker is hard to read especially for the timing degrees. Can someone take a picture of their under hood sticker for a 1985 49 state 4.2L and send it to me or just tell me how many degrees BTC I have to set this to? I'm not running the computer, just the Duraspark II and a TFI coil and the BBD non-stepper motor version (stock from the '79 engine).

Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground!

Set the timing at between 6* and 8* BTDC and you'll be fine.
