OT-Good News/Bad News

Good News: I had back surgery on Monday (June-4) and all seems to have gone well. I'm still in quite a bit of pain, but it's 'different' pain than before. For those who understand medical stuff I had a micro-laminectomy on L5/S1. It was a bulged disc pressing on the sciatic nerve that runs down my left leg. I couldn't attend the bash, cant ride the motorcycle, cant sit/stand/walk very long, so it had to be taken care of. Hopefully it's on the mend now.

(That was the good news?)
Bad News: After this week of staying off my feet, I'm moving to my new appartment. My Wife of 11 years (this month) asked me for a seperation. We have been working on problems on and off for the last few years, but she got to the point that she is just tired of trying. It is going well and is an amicable split, so we will stay good friends, just not like I want us to be. Wish us luck.

ouch.....

for the back...at least you are on the right path to recovery....a little pain now will hopefully mean much less pain later.

as for the wife stuff....my parents are split up....and for them it was for the better. hopefully thats the case for you! you'll find a lot of people who will tell ya that you're better off now

if you're feel'n blue just focus on the wonderful kids you have and the positive things in life.

hang in there

Dang it Mike... that sucks swampwater. I sure hate to see another family split up. It's sad, so very, very sad. I know you've all been under stress for quite a while since leaving St. Paul. Hang in there, there are brighter days ahead.

Good luck on the back.....having had back problems (but no surgery), I can relate to the pain you have had....

But that is nothing like family problems......been there....done that

Though I must inject that I have an issue with 'trying' to keep things together.....My wife and I do not try.....we do.....no effort....we might have the occasional 'issue', which is quickly resolved.......I never have to worry about coming home and asking my wife "Whats wrong".....if something is wrong, she will tell me...if nothing is wrong....then there is nothing wrong....it will be 7 years this Aug and it's better now than ever.....

God is making it up to me after 20 years of hell......

Keep your chin up...If things work out....great....if not, then it's better than fighting all the time....

Yup to the kids, Son-7, Daughter-9, Stepdaughter-15.

As for fighting...we never do, thats the wierd part, we seem to get along just fine, she just doesnt want to be married to me anymore. I know he has a plan, and it will all work out. I'll keep my chin up, like you said, and push throgh! Thanks all, much appreciated.

Where did you have your surgery done, and who did it?
I have the exact same thing, and that surgery is one of my options, so if it goes well for you, I'd like more details.

I just went through a similar situation (the wife thing, not the back thing). Signed the divorce papers yesterday. We had been having troubles, small things (I thought), for a while. Last Thanksgiving she said that we just "don't get each other" and she was tired of trying. My advice is for both of you you is go see a counselor together. If she absoutely does not want to make it work, then that is just the way it has to be. Keep your head up and try to think positive. Try to make the best of a bad situation. I feel your pain. Good luck.

I've felt your pains!
Remember a few things.
1.) Life is Good!! the other choice sucks!
2.) Your not the First or the Last to go through this (Wife & Back)
3.) You'll be back in the saddle soon. (bike, jeep and new girl friend)

Good luck! It's one day at a time.

Junkyard: A specialist in lower back , Dr. Michael Tjarksen. Procedure was done at Waukesha Memorial here in Wisconsin. Very good cred's (doctor), Very caring staff (Waukesha Mem). They said it would be about 1-3 hours and it took 2.5, so it was a bit on the long side, but I'm glad they took their time!

MTPockets: We have been through counselors (3 throughout the last four years). We would see a counselor, things would get better, then we would drift apart again, see another counselor, repeat, same... I am still madly in Love with my Wife, and I think deep down, She still is with me. Maybe a separation is what we both need, It just may make things better than they ever were.

Gold Toy Box:
1.) The thought never crossed my mind, and never will. Too much in life to enjoy.
2.) That's what keeps me going, Close friends, close family, fun hobbies, keep me going.
3.) he he he, saddle, he he.

Thanks for all your support, it really does make a difference!!!
