T5-to-2.5?

We have an old 80 sumthin CJ here at the shop that has no motor but a good T5 and dana 300. I was told by a guy who works for another shop that the T5 would bolt directly up to my 2.5 in my 91 YJ without modifications. Is he right or wrong??? (i have my doubts)
I'd love to get rid of this junky ole AX5 in my Jeep and a Dana 300 would be so sweet twin sticked I can taste it. If it's not possible to put the T5 behind the 2.5 then I guess I'll have to keep an eye out for a 4.0, that is if it'll work with a T5 also? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Using the the Dana 300 in the YJ will present the problem of the front differential being on the wrong side. I can't definitively comment on the 2.5 to T5. It would depend on what the T5 was originally hooked up to. If it was a straight 6, I doubt it fits the bellhousing.

It had a straight six in it, 258 iirc. Would that bolt up to a 4.0? I plan on getting the front axle too.

It will bolt up to a 4.0, of course there will be the issues of getting the fuel injection system working and crank position sensor lacking on the bellhousing of the 258 bellhousing. You can modify the 258 bellhousing to add one, or use a crank position sensor off the front dampner.

If you swap front axles with the CJ, you will have a different bolt pattern than the rears. Probably a narrower axle as well.
