Taking mirrors apart help

Well i put my soft doors in today,and i bought some mirror movers and i need to take mine apart,i got the nut off and 2 washers and a spring,but theres a part that wont come out,its on the top and has grooves in it,do i need it? How does it come out,also do i need all those parts? Thanks

That piece stays in the factory mirror mount. You won't need it to put the mirrors on the new mounts. At least that's how mine worked.

Pretty much after you take the nut off, you can pull the mirror out of the bracket. You may need to pursuade it a little - hit the stud that you removed the nut from.
