OT My Dodge Ram this AM!

Ok, I go to start the 1999 Dodge, the batt is almost dead, not enough to start. Set the 110 bat charger to jump, leave on for 5 min, and start it. Take the charger off (have done this a dozen times in it's life). It is idling at 2k RPMs. Shut down, visually check fuses and throttle cable, nope looks good. Start again, idle a 2k RPM, hit the pedal, goes up, and back to 2k. Disconnect the battery for 5min, same.

Ran out of time, had to run to a client in the Jeep. I will look at it this afternoon, any ideas where to concentrate?

1999 Dodge Ram 5.9L 102k Mi, Original vacuum hoses, timing belt. Auto trans.

Oh, it ran just fine last week, and 2 weekends ago changed the oil/air/filter.

how about a jacked up idle air control motor ? (if your dodge has one....i know TJ's with the 4.0L and 2.5L used them...maybe dodge did something different)

dont know why it would have gone kaput in your situation, but i know they can get pretty foul and stick open on jeeps.....

So I left the connection off the battery all yesterday, then it started fine yesterday afternoon. Been running fine all day. I guess the computer received some surge, or a sensor did. Anyway, another reason not to be lazy and ground off the battery terminals. I never had a problem before this, but next time, I am grounding to the block.

Thanks for everyone's help. Glad I didn't need it, yet
