Need clarification on 304/999 flexplate

I'm swapping out my 258 for a 304 and while trying to find a flexplate I was told that I need a "bushing" or "spacer" between the crank and torque converter. I've tried calling around and searching the web but I'm getting conflicting answers. Most things I've read only talk abut this spacer if your going to mate it to a TH400. I'm trying to mate it to a TF999. I've seen someother things for the 360/999 combo, but have heard that they are not the same as the 304/999 combo.

Does anyone know or have one of these laying around? Can I have it made at a machine shop? Do I need to take the engine and torque converter in to have it made?

Lots of questions, but lots of confusion also.

Thanks

360 and 304 should be identical as far as swapping. What works for the 360 should work for the 304.

One would think but I've already talked to a couple of shops that say the 304 and 360 are balanced different and the bolt pattern for the spacer is different. This is where alot of my confusion is coming from. I can't seem to find anyone who has done this or has it and can tell me what they have.

My CJ7 came with a 304 and th400 stock. I swapped in a 360 without anything special. They I swapped in a 700r4 with an advance adapters kit. Then I swapped a 304 back in. Granted I wasn't using a TF with any of this but the 304 and 360 were the same on the end of the cranks.
