Weep Hole Question

I know there is one on the water pump and I believe I've seen them on top of some thermostat housings but what does it do? And if it has an actual purpose are there any others to look for?

Re: Weep Hole Question

I don't see how the t-stat housing could have one...

But on the water pump it's between the two bearings....it lets water leak out if the seal on the inner bearing starts to go....it's a good indication that your bearings are going out.

Re: Weep Hole Question

May not have been a weep hole on the T-stat housing but a I have seen a thermostat housing that has a hole with some sort of set screw in it

Re: Weep Hole Question

If its leaking its time to change the pump. Wouldn't you like to know its going bad by the leak than frozen up on the side of the road or trail?
