Re: OT know your lump charcoal

I've used Cowboy and Royal Oak. I like Royal Oak better. I just did my first smoke with a Weber Smoky Mountain I got for my b-day and I had to keeping adding lump to maintain temps. It was mostly user error but I may go back to Kingsford briquettes just for the stability. I really don't know what the hell I'm doing yet.

Here's a great site. Lots of info/forums and recipes. http://www.thesmokering.com/

Next smoke I'm going to use the minion method and it should be much easier.

Mmmmmmmmm smoked savory goodness. I need to invest in a smoker. You just can't beat the taste.

Re: OT know your lump charcoal

I'm new to smokey goodness. I figure my smoker is good enough until I build a big trailer type. I think every back yard griller should pursue this because it opens up new opportunities. Steaks and burgers are great but working a piece of meat is even better. Haha, you know what I mean.
