Wow! They even chromed some stuff that never gets seen!

A friend of mine just purchased the rights to a process that enables you to chrome anything using a chemical process, like painting. It looks awesome! It's even sort of flexible. He's planning on chroming the complete body of a street rod.

Re: Parts for Jim_Lou!

if it was all stainless that'd be an other story.....

i gotta wonder about chroming the radiator.....last i checked chrome did a great job at holding heat compared to other metals....not so much at dispersing it to the air

.....i think

That’s kinda the way I thought you would feel.

There are things there that should never be chromed. Chrome plating can cause the surface metal to become brittle and weak. Things such as tierods, draglinks and other suspension parts are not good choices for plating. I wonder how long the chrome would last on those springs even if used on a show Jeep.

Wow, that was kind of neat to log into my ebay and see everything in German.

Leve, I dunno, you might be spending too much time on the PC if you are trolling for chromed jeep parts on the German ebay site

Exactly right. As I understand it, chrome is very hard and brittle, so it will crack from very little flexing. A crack that starts in the chrome can propagate across the boundary to the metals below.

I was told once that a good "chrome-plated" pistol will really be nickel plated because nickel is softer and won't encourage fatigue cracks.

Besides, I don't really like bling.
