O/T - Update on myself and the new job.

Well I've been working in SE Utah since the end of November and have fully moved into a house in Durango, CO. Life is pretty darned good out here. I still don't have my Jeep out here and I'm questioning what to do with it. With all the loans I have and such I'm having a hard time finding a way to get my Jeep out here, and even if I did I wouldn't have the money to do anything with it. So I may sell it in the Chicago area and use the money for something else out here.

The job is amazing. I've gotten a role as a field support staff. The thing I do most in that job is drive...and almost exclusively off-road. Well, I suppose they are roads but unmaintained on BLM land with plenty of nasty spots. A few spots are too knarly for our Toyota's and we use an ATV. I live in a 35 foot trailer with all the ameneties and am not freezing my butt off like the other staff on nights when it dips to the single digits and there's not a tent to be seen.

So that's me in a quick review. Anyone want to buy my Jeep? Think I could get $3k in the Chicago area with it needing some fiberglass body work, a new throwout bearing, and a new starter? If I'm going to end up selling that's the lowest I'll go, just hope it's low enough.

Sounds like the sweet life, Nick! I guess that means you won't be back for the Bash. Again.

I'll just have to drink your beer for you.

Good on you Nick! It's wonderful to see someone who's starting to get a good life. Durango's a neat place full of a lot of history. IMHO, you're in a wonderful part of the US. My Great-Great-Great Grandpappy spent about 20 years down in the San Juan mountains on 5 LDS Missions. I don't have a clue who he preached to... the only people there then (the 1850's through the 1870's) was Indians, Miners, hunters, Comanches, and neer-do-wells. Humm... come to think of it... I guess things haven't changed much.

3K for your Jeep should be do-able. But were I you, if you could swing it... just go back and get it in the summer. It's not that long of a drive. You're in such a lovely area you've really got to get out with the Jeep and start day-tripping.

Oh, and look out... don't date Mormon Girls and stay out of Colorado City and Hilldale The FLDS are just too darned strange... On second thought.. it's OK, there's a Temple in Chicago too!

Keep up the good work.

Re: O/T - Update on myself and the new job.

went to Durango and CO a few years ago, and this year we went to;
UT - Zion, Capitol Reef, Moab, Goblin Valley
CO - Vega & Rocky Mtn ntl park, Winter Park for wedding.

Love the country there, wish I could join you. Wish I could find a job driving around in the backcountry.

You could sell you jeep in IL and buy one in CO, they seem to grow on trees in CO.

Remember, his jeep is still in Illinois and needs a little work.

I think it needs a lot more than a little work.

Re: O/T - Update on myself and the new job.

Sell your problems to someone else... (your Jeep)

Then...

Buy someone elses problems for yourself.... (get another Jeep in CO.)

Best thing to do is trade your daily driver in on a TJ....

A few friends and I have decided to sell our Jeeps and instead of wheelin, just have a get together once a month and burn a few $100.00 bills..... seems like less stress and less busted knuckels.....

Good luck.... BTW, you still got that shell of a Willis Truck in ILL?
