Re: O/T So...you wanna new car?

Even if it's in showroom condition, it's not going to be worth a whole lot. But I believe that there is one Bugatti Royale unaccounted for.

IIRC there were seven of them built. The whereabouts of six are known, one was damaged in WW II and then disappeared. Also, IIRC the last Royale to be sold went for quite a few million dollars.

The general story I believe to be accurate but all the details are feeble recollections. ld codger:

Re: O/T So...you wanna new car?

When the car was buried, a contest was announced to award the car and a $100 savings account to the person who came closest to guessing Tulsa's population in 2007.

Organizers concede that finding that person or his or her heirs may not be easy.

Who the heck thought that idea up? Would you buy a ticket to win a prize 50 years from now?

I don't know about that. After watching Barret-Jackson all last week I'm an arm chair expert. I think if it is in showrrom condition with very little miles it would be worth several hundred thousand. Remember its only new once. Once restored it can be done over and over.

I am looking forward to some tv coverage on June 15. It is pretty cool that they are still going to give it away with the $100 bond.

What if the microfilm is ruined? Hopefully they will find some sort of rules or instructions inside so if it is worth claiming the correct person gets it. Sure would be neat.

That much seems out of line for a car that has no particular following. Not many people looking for a '57 Plymouth Belvedere. I doubt that you'd get that much for a '57 Chevy Bel Air, even an F.I. version.

But even if you could get a hundred large for it, that's a fraction of what a car with significant collector interest would draw.
