You know,....sometimes I'm GLAD that I have spent a substantial amount of time working in occupations in which the daily activity offered me a quick trip to the graveyard if I screwed up even just a teensy bit......it got all of that built-in "need for risk" out of my system. I KNOW that there are those who would LOVE to bicycle that road, or Jeep it, or scooter it, or ATV it, but I don't think I'm part of that "elite" group. Re: A Wonderful Jeep/Motorcycle Trip!

There is such a road in Bolivia; however your picture is of the Guoliang Tunnel in China. Lot's of people get that one wrong because of misinformation on the internet. The actual road in Bolivia is fairly scary.

See http://rickmccharles.com/?p=1230 for information on the Guoliang Tunnel. Information on the Stemnaya Road (Road of Death) also known as the Yungas Road in Bolivia can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yungas_Road

I'd get a kick out of taking the jeep on the Chinese road. The Bolivian road may be a little too much. They lose a car about every 2 weeks on it. Since it's a single lane road, I think it would be real interesting to see which driver is going to move his vehicle to the outside edge for someone to get by.

Thanks for the correction... I'd love to drive either one in an ol' flat fender.... with disk brakes!

Re: A Wonderful Jeep/Motorcycle Trip!

Might search Discovery channel ot National Geographic channel listings for the Bolivia road. I watched an hour long documentary about it the other night. Sometimes trucks have to back down several thousand yards when two come to the same single lane corner and can't pass. They interviewed one guy who went over the edge two seperate times, lost his wife and son the first time. Now no one will travel with him because they think he is cursed. Very spooky show... but neat also.

Forget seat belts, I'd be wearing a parachute.
