Opinions: 2005 6-speed transmission

Hello folks- well I'm currently wheeling around in an 84 CJ-7 but looking at maybe buying a 2005 TJ being sold locally. I see that 05 was the first year for the new 6-speed tranny and am wondering if any of you have opinions/experience as to how the 05 TJ transmissions have held up so far.

I see on consumerreports.org that 2005 shows a significantly lower reliability rating for the transmission than surrounding years. Perhaps it took a year to work the kinks out?

Any comments/opinions appreciated- any other issues related to the 2005 X model also welcome.

The more technologically advanced/complex a part is, then there are more points of failure. Also it's more expensive to repair... and you'll have to repair it sometime.

IMHO... I wouldn't buy one...

I don't consider this an advance.

While I agree with LEVE, that simple is better, I couldn't find a CJ that met my needs. So far I've liked the six speed, but I haven't put much pressure on it either. Here's some info.
