CJ7 steering

Has anyone had experience with the replacement power steering boxes (i.e. agr, variable)? I have an 85 CJ7 I would like to be a bit tighter. Thanks

Re: CJ7 steering

Has anyone done anything with their power steering to improve it? (Other than braces to support it)

It has been my experience that loose steering is often an accumulation of a lot of different items being either worn, OR out of adjustment. You have to sweep out ALL the corners....the column fittings...the box...the pitman arm...the draglink...the trunions...and the tie rod ends. AND...if you don't actually understand how to adjust the box, don't do it...get help. Otherwise six months from now the box could be junk...it's more complex that it looks to adjust one. Once you go end to end, doing right by each component, and not being afraid to spend the dough to get it right, you'll be pleasantly surprised at how well it steers.
