While I risk emabaresment asking this but I suppose I need to. I went to change out the motor mounts today on my cj-7 w/ I-6. What is the deal with the passenger side? It doesnt seem like you can remove it with out removing the bracket attached to the engine. If you do that how are you suppose to line it back up when you go to reinstall it? If anyone has a clue what I'm talking about I would be grateful for help.

It is always the jobs I think that will be simple that end up causing me grief.

did the exact same on my 86/258 last year, how i did it was to attach my come along to and existing round hole at the front passenger side corner on the flange where the oil pan bolts up, and gently lift the motor up to take some strain of the mounts then, then unbolt them , remember the direction that steelbar/crossmember goes into place, to save a few seconds head scratching.
you may have to lift the engine an additional inch or two, to remove everything.


just be cautious to make sure everything moves freely and nothing gets in the way. I took the opportunity to upgrade to grade 8 cad plated fasteners, poly mounts and some new paint on the brackets
