Figured out fender install problem

I know it's been a while since I've been around, or even messed with the Jeep for that matter, but today I got busy on it.

The problem I was having was that my new fiberglass fenders weren't lining up after I put on the fiberglass tub. It was either line them up with the grill and have a gap at the bottom edge of the fender where it meets the body, or line them up on the body and have big gaps at the grill.

Well, I was just looking at it the other day and it hit me...the front body mounts were not tall enough and the front of the tub was sitting low. Sure enough, I loosend the body mount bolts and jacked up the body and viola, the fenders lined up. So, I cut two new mounts for the front from the extra roll of rubber I bought and hopefully the problem is solved. I ran out of daylight, so I wasn't able to get the fenders on, but I'm pretty psyched.

Now that work gave me a digital camera, I'll have to get some pics up.

Later guys

Yep, one little tidbit is that when you install a fiberglass body per instructions, it's like having a 1" Body Lift.

Re: Figured out fender install problem

Well, I cut the rubber to give myself a bit of lift but for some reason it seems that the front was slightly lower. I'm not exactly thrilled with the rubber since some of the pieces have deformed somewhat. I haven't even been wheeling on it since I haven't put the fenders on yet.

One problem with the rubber that I can see it that it is a larger diameter than the mounts on the frame and it wraps around the egdes a bit. If I can find large enough washers, I'll put some on top of the mounts to stop this from happening.

First things first though. The fenders will hopefully go on this weekend. I do see some problems with the clutch linkage now that the body is raised up more. I was thinking about going to the heim joint linkage that I see.
