15x10 rims on a 89 YJ????

I have a SOA on my 89YJ(actually I am doing the conversion right now) and I need to order tires and rims...I am getting the 35x12.5 BFG MT's and I need to know if I should use 15x10 rims or 15x8 rims...I don't want to order the rims and have them not fit. Also what kind of backspacing am I going to need?? Thanks

I'm running 15x10 rims with my 35s, with 3 3/4 inch back spacing. Will also give you better tire clearence when turning. I made custom fender extensions for my 87 but a set of 6 1/2 inch Zenon flares will just cover the tread. I think 8 inch rims with a 12.50 tire suck the sidewalls in to much. Alot of people do it though. Just my opinion. Steve

Re: 15x10 rims on a 89 YJ????

i think it's personnel choice, i've seen 35x12.5's on 8" and 10" wheels, and they both are acceptable. they both usually have a standard backspacing of 3 3/4" or 4"

10" make a wider track or patch(better traction?), expose the wheels/sidewall to damage, decrease Outside Diameter of the tire alittle, and stick out 2 more inches past the fender flares than 8"

8" hold a bead better(opnion), protect wheel/sidewalls, have less stress on bearings/ball joints/streering, have less clearance between the front leaf springs and the tires at maximun turn. bla bla bla bla
