M20 to D44 axle question

I am replacing my rear Model 20 in my 81 Scrambler with a Dana 44. Will I need new spring plates and ubolts specifically for the 44 or will the M20 ones work? I want to make sure I have all my parts together before starting.

Thanks for your help.

Re: M20 to D44 axle question

Definitly new U-bolts and new spring plates. You should replace U-bolts anyway, and not to mention the tube thickness will be different so you'll need to replace them just on that alone.

don't forget to make sure yourgears match too
