FAQ Section?

As many of us know, a lot of the questions are the same ones we asked a few years ago and have since answered MANY times. For the most part the common ones are...

How High?
Who has the best lift?
SOA?
What tires will fit?
Driveshat Angles?
BBD Carb Replacement
HEI/TFI/Nutter bypass
etc...

Why not do a FAQ section that covers the majority of the most common questions.....then when someone post the question, we can really have fun telling them "What part of READ FIRST did you not understand?"

I assume the section could be Read Only...Jim?

And...this just might be the makings of a good article for ORC (Leve?)

Re: FAQ Section?

Yes, Yes, Yes!!!!!!!!!

I have been a member here for almost ten years. I have seen the same couple of dozen questions over and over and over. An FAQ would be great!! especially since the search function is so cumbersome and ineffective.
However, I doubt it will ever happen.

Re: FAQ Section?

See this discussion, 5 days short of being exactly 3 years ago. Didnít seem to be much interest and there were some objections. Opinions do change though.

Re: FAQ Section?

The problem as I see it is practically every FAQ leads to another with variations. It would just lead to more posts beginning with, "I read the FAQ but I (blah blah blah)...", and the same questions would be asked/answered again. Net gain, not much.

Re: FAQ Section?

Pete's smoking rope again! I thought that it was a good idea then and I still do. I'll set it up if someone will help compile it.

My suggestion would be to pull up some past links and toss out the chaff. Then I can edit them for spelling, grammer and to set up a common style. Once that's done they'll be available for everyone to critique.

Re: FAQ Section?

I'm all for it. There used to be a separate website that BBS members created that was home to a lot of tech articles, FAQ section, etc. I used to have it bookmarked but I believe it died off a while ago. Would be nice to see it return.

My reg date isnít right. My first post isnít quite 7 years old yet. I donít think this forum is 10 years old. Somewhere way back there is a thread naming who the first to register was.

Was the old board open with no registration required?

The old BBS required Registration. When the new software was installed it required all users to re-register. ORC is over 10 years old...this is the 3rd iteration of software.

As to the FAQ, good luck. I doubt it will be done. The old FAQ was done via the SWB Site that's no longer being kept up, and not affiliated with ORC.
