OT since it might be the last one.

Anyone know anything good or bad about the 1999 ford f-250 powerstroke?

I just bought one, and am pretty happy with it although I may not have expected the fuel mileage. I might actually miss my 83 at 27 mpg.

It is a 4 door short bed 4x4. I will get some pix up. The thing pulls so good I barely know my trailer is back there. I have to spring for the cash for a gooseneck so i can haul the new trailer.

Pix coming tomorow.

Re: OT since it might be the last one.

My father in law has a 97 that is great. His is an extended cab long bed (read school bus). He bought it about four years ago and it had 30k on it. It's up to about mid 40's now and the only thing he's had to do is replace a brake line and do something with the tranny cooler. I like driving it and my daughter gets a kick out of riding in pawpaw's big truck

OFF TOPIC POST! YOU MUST DIE NOW!!!!
Don't you read the moderators posts!
----------------------------

We use the extended cab versions to pull the car show trailers around, and I can't complain (but probably will anyway!).
They've done much better than the Chevys.

Around 70K, expect to replace the fuel pump.
Don't ask me why, but all three went out between 70 & 85K.
Aftermarket reman pumps seem to be holding up well.
Over 150K on two of them with no problems.
(depending on how clean you keep the fuel and how often you change the filters)

They are hard on the hydro Assist brake boosters too.
(Well-DUH! look at the size and weight of those things!)
We have to replace brake boosters about every 125K to 150K.
We mostly pull tri axle enclosed 5th wheel trailers everywhere... I'm sure that doesn't help the brake situation...

Other than one clutch we had problems with for 60K.
Wrong clutch installed from factory and dealership just kept putting the same (wrong) one back in...
When it came out from under warranty we went with an aftermarket clutch, Not one problem since.

All in all our guys don't complain about them too much.

Re: OT since it might be the last one.

I had a 97 cab & a half dually. Pulled like a dream, rode REAL nice for an f-350. I allways ran Hess fuel in it. Never gelled in the winter . The proof was in the fuel filter. Hardly any critters at all in it. Tons o power.

Re: OT since it might be the last one.

I bought mine new in 1999, super duty club cab 4x4 PS

I how have 129K on it. other than routine maintenance (by the book) and just installed my second set of tires all that I have done is replace the speed sensor in the rear diff. If driven right I usually get 18mpg or so empty.

We throw on a 10ft camper and hook up either a horse trailer of a flat bed with buggy or jeep and quads and go camping.

I have always had a truck and this is the best one yet.

Re: OT since it might be the last one.

Neighbor/buddy/huntin partners rig:
1997 F-250 4 door long bed 4x4
187K
work done date:
injectors & fuel pump
power steering leaks (replaced hose & box)
left front hub & bearings

same comments as the others about plenty of power, towing is a dream, fuel consumption could be better, confortable to drive, bitch to park or turn around.

Rockin On

Hey Jeff.
We stopped by on the way home from Freindship this evening. You must have been asleep, but I got to snoop around the truck a little.
Pretty sweet!!
Congrat's.
