Bellhousing ???

I have my choice of a bellhousing from a T150 or a T176 to mate my T18 to my 4.2. What is the difference and is one more desireable than the other?

Re: Bellhousing ???

I don't think there's much of a difference other than what holes are drilled in them for the transmission to bolt through. If someone can confirm that, and if Dale can remind me what he sent me long ago, you can have the one that's been sitting in a box at my place. It needs that little tabby thing that the release fork pivots on welded back on but it's all there and should go together real easy.

Re: Bellhousing ???

Here are the old threads from Nick's adventure (or was that Jim Lou's adventure?).

Whatever... Nick you still owe Jim some freight.

Bellhousing bad is this??? 304-T18

I think you will see the T18 pattern in the pictures.

And the fix (not so useful for Ed).

Upgrades via the hand of Jim_Lou w/ pictures

But that bellhousing is still sitting around somewhere in Nick's junk... make him ship it to you if you want it Ed.

If I remember correctly.... and we all know that is questionable.... most of the late 80's bellhousings have the bosses (thicker casing) for just about any transmission. Some of the more common ones even have a spot hole cast in (like the one I sent to Nick).
