2003 TJ Stalls after ECM replacement

Hi, I have a 2003 Wrangler 6cyl 5speed and my ECM was STOLEN!
So i replaced it with one from ebay... It runs smooth for about 2 seconds then stalls... any ideas?
Is there a way to check if it its the correct model ECM for my vehicle?
thanks peoples... Alex

most of the late model ecm's that i have dealt with aer pretty vehicle specific. You usually need the numbers off the original one to get the right one

Someone who needs one or works at a repair shop and has a customers car that needs one. Some people will still anything.

You can pull the diagnostic codes to see why it's shutting down.

Have a good look at the ECM connectors and related wires. Most dusch bags don't care how careful they are when the steal stuff. It's not like they plan on putting it back the way they found it.

I'm glad you found your way to the forum. Sorry, I can't answer all the questions on the JeepCreep Column... Go to the dealer and give them your VIN number. They should be able to give you an ECU, or range of ECU numbers that will work. Then cross check the number with the one you've got. It could be an issue with the Sentry Theft Deterrent Key system.

Keep watching Ebay, you might be able to buy yours back.

Pity the poor guy that had his stolen and sold on Ebay - to you.

Having the right ECM is not all of the picture, you have to have the right program and limp home resistors too. Iím running a 305 TPI out of a Pontiac Firebird. The same ECM is also used for an S10 with the 4 popper but with a different memcal.

In your case, itís probably flash memory rather than a memcal chip. Unless the ECM came out of the same vehicle with the same engine and accessories, you may have to have it flashed with the proper program.
