Jeepskate XL 12-03-05 Spy Photos

Here's some current pics of the project Scrambler...my 9 year old son took several of them. It's up at my buddy Ander's shop ( http://www.xtrmds.com )in Kenosha, WI to take care of the welding and custom fab/tube work:

The 4.0 is gone, replaced with a '92 TBI Mopar 360. We borrowed from M-COR's design for the engine cradle:

Anders & I contemplating the great mysteries of the world:

Shots of the doubler setup:

Test-fitting the t-case crossmember:

Test-fitting the in-cab cage (it's for sale now), dash, and seats:

The in-cab cage/half cab isn't going to work out due to the aftermarket seats and my size (6', 210#), so it's up for sale and Anders is going to build a new front cage off of the stock main bar instead. The t-case crossmember should be sorted out this week along with some fine tuning of our ideas for protecting and attaching the rest of the drivetrain. We'll probably work on the cage next weekend.

Jeepskate, are you selling the 4.0 and/or the fuel tank with sender/pump?

Re: Jeepskate XL 12-03-05 Spy Photos

I'll see what I can do, but the CJ-7 would be more likely to make that run...just gotta swap the springs around, swap the front axle, install the gas tank skid, wire up some new gauges, and tweak the new carb.

Haven't worked on the Scrambler since this update due to work and holiday schedules, so we're running behind. I'm taking a half day tomorrow and heading up so we can finalize the position of the 203 (trying to clock it up) and finalize the crossmember and settle on the cage design and go buy the tubing so Anders can keep cranking away. Once it's back home, I have to disassemble it again and run the frame and a few other items down to the hot dip galvanizer. I'll work on the tub while that's going on so that I'm hopefully ready to assemble when the frame comes back.

I'd be curious to know what the galvanizer charges you. I think mine cost $250, including skidplate, tank skid and a few little pieces. They charged by weight and that was their minimum.

If they're charging you similarly, load up all your little pieces, shackles, steering box mount, winch frame . . . I could have had EVERYTHING except the engine, tranny and axels galvanized for the same price.

Be sure to mask off the threaded holes (I think they recommended old-fashioned friction tape) so you don't have to run a tap through them all. Cover the studs too.

Yeah, they go by weight, just need to find out where the breaks are. I figured I'd take the frame, engine cradle, crossmember/skid, steering box mount, steering brace, shackle hangers, spring plates, bumpers, spare tire carrier, anti-wrap bar, and gas tank skid.
