Under Hood Paint

I've been reading the Hurculiner posts.
Getting ready to cover my under hood and don't want to use color there for several reasons.
Any suggestions for an under hood paint?
Hurculiner?
Others?

Re: Under Hood Paint

I called the guys at cote-L about useing Duraback
in my engine compartment and they did not reccomend
it cuz of temp, if I remember correctly Herculiner
and Durabak are both good to about 250 degrees.

Re: Under Hood Paint

If you e-mail me, then give me a couple of days i can find information on people that used Herculiner. The company that I work for sells it now. I will ask them if they got a good response from customers or not.

give me an email at [email protected]

Re: Under Hood Paint

I did my complete engine compartment in a undercoating that I sell. It looks good(you apply it with a shuts gun) It drys hard and is designed for the underbody of european vehicles so it is very durable

Re: Under Hood Paint

John, what's wrong with just using the color you did the rest of the Jeep in, it's a pretty cool color, and that's what the factory does.

Re: Under Hood Paint

Thanks for the response, guys, but I am familiar with how good Hurculiner is so I do not need more accolades. Nor do I wish to get a special undercoating gun to shoot with. My under tub is all Por-15 & DuraBaked.
Just looking for a good, temp resistnat black coating.
My paint dealer sold me an old half full gallon can of DuPont vinyl covering but I fear it won't hold up to heat but it will be excelent for my hardtop as this in more in line with it's purpose.
Well, I can always go back and look at the table full of partial cans of Centari, find a real dark or black one and then clear coat it. It would be nice if I could put something on that had a just a little texture. I've stripped the hood's top down to primer and metal but do not want to spend an extra day sanding and feather edging the underside that a color finish deserves.
Some under coatings have a porous surface. I'm looking for something that will wash well.

Re: Under Hood Paint

John,
Not sure about this but I think I saw
what your looking for at a POR-15
web site, temp resistant paint (and coatings?)
wasn't to expensive either.
