Ok, this project has only been going on for 1.5 years.....
What started as a quick SBC swap has turned into a frame up restore...
Two weeks ago, I thought I was about a week away from trying to crank her up...
Two weeks later, I'm still about a week away from 'cranking her up'.
It's the little things that slow you down...like finding the right exhaust manifold so that your exhaust can run under the pan....because, there is not enough room for it to run down the right side....it took me awhile, but I found a set of Ram Head exhaust manifolds with 2 1/2" outlets...the old Corvett style...
Now, I can run the exhaust under the pan over to the other side....
Then, you get to the wiring.....actually, considering the scope of the project, this part is easy....20 wires max to hook up? But its the little things, like finding a place for the battery terminal block....Fuel pump relay, etc...enlarging the hole so the computer harness will fit through it...going to the junk yard to find a VSS buffer and ALDL connector....
I didn't want to attach it with sheet metal screws, so I pulled all of the ducts, drilled and taped 1/4" holes and screwed stainless steel screws in from the backside.
And then there is the misc wires....the extra relay just for the starter...extra power for the transmission....my fuse block does not have a fuse for the transmission or the O2 sensor...so I have to add one...
I still havn't worked out the relays for the electric fan.....
But I am proud of one item that is coming together well....the engine and tranny cooler....Picked up a couple of coolers for about $100...just the right size to bolt side by side and sit in front of the radiator...I'll send pics when it's done.
Just another little detail......
And it does not help that I jump every time the phone rings.....my oldest daughter is days or hours away from having a baby....but some of the little things are good....
