Crazy rebuild ideas/toyota 3.0 swap or an amc 304?

I am rebuilding an 84 cj-7 it currently has a 360cid motor from a 79 wagoneer the tranny is trash. I have a 304 that came out of a 79 cj with a 3 spd tranny and dana 30 2 stick transfer. I also have an 89 Toyota 4runner in my drive rotting like they do. the motor, 5 spd, and transfer all work great. I am totally up for the challenge but will it be worth it?? fuel injection is nice and so is economy but I just don't know if it can actually be done. since a fuel injection kit for the 304 is upwords of $1,500. crazy thoughts can be good or bad!

Re: Crazy rebuild ideas/toyota 3.0 swap or an amc 304?

Cool swap idea though the motor doesn't have the greatest reputation. I do have a buddy running a 3.0/5 speed/4.10's/ 36" iroks in a 4 runner and he like the power and says it's a lot better then his 22re/5 speed/ 4.10's/ 34" swampered 4 runner he used to have. I hav eno clue on wiring. Look into a chevy 4.3 or 350 much cheeper to get power out of and fuel injection harnesses are $290, pumps are $55, though the swap gets expensive fast just as the 3.0 swap would be.
