toy vs. d44 rear

hello.
i currently have a dana 44 rear end in my jeep and i have an opportunity to get a pretty much complete 86 toyota truck rear end for free. im pretty sure its a 4-banger. i dont know too much about the toy axles other than they are alot like a ford 9". which axle do you think would be more favorable, the d44 or toy? i plan on running 35" tires.

thank you for any input!

Re: toy vs. d44 rear

It's been said here in the past that the Toyota axels are very strong, but I would stick with the 44 because I don't think you're likely to hurt it with 35s.

There are some guys on the board with Toyota experience. I'm sure someone will check in soon with better info.

Re: toy vs. d44 rear

Since you already have a D44, I don't think I would spend the time and $ to chance out to a Toy rear. Yes it is a strong rear end. But it is not "That Much" stronger than a 44, and for 35's, your D44 will be fine.
