GM350/350 turbo/NP203 or D300 conversion questions

My boss just called me and he blew up his transfer case. He's currently running a GM350/350 turbo with a NP203(with some sort of conversion to make it so he has 2H, 4H, and 4L. Anyways it sounds like he broke a chain rear end turns front end doesn't. So the question is would he be better rebuilding the 203 or will a 300 bolt up fairly easily and if this is the case what all is needed, adapters electronics so on and so forth? Or would a different model transfer case be a better idea.
All ideas are welcome.

Since he already has the 203 in there, he should have room to get a doubler adapter and put a dana 300 behind the 203's low range section.

He was looking to replace the 203 it's been a problematic unit from the get go. Plus would it be worth repaiaring the 203 just to double it?

Re: GM350/350 turbo/NP203 or D300 conversion quest

203s are cheap.

Theres a 203 doubler unit on Pirate for about the same cost as the D300 adapter.

Then you get 2.xx:1, and 2.63:1 .. really good lowrange.. but if its not a big wheeler, and he doesnt need the crawl ratio.. just strap another 203 in there and call it done.

You said it had problems with the chain. When using it as a doubler, you remove the chain housing part of the 203 and only use the low range portion in front of that. The chain housing portion is replaced with the dana 300 which also has a low range. The length should be close to what the 203 is now and I think just a bit shorter.
