NOT a Good Day at Haspin

Aaron, Dale, Kathy, and I went to Haspin Sunday for a little mild run. Unfortunately, it went from mild to wild WAY too fast.

We headed straight for "Devils Backbone" to watch Crazy Eddie show off a little, while the rest of us went up the bunny slope on the far side. Kathy was the last one to head up, and took a different line from Dale, who she was following.

Well, she got herself wedged between a tree and a stump she didn't see. I blame Aaron for all of this. She was mesmerized by his glorious hair, and so busy flirting with him, that she lost concentration on what she was doing.
The YJ popped out of gear on her while looking for reverse, and she started rolling backwards down the hill, FAST!!!

Luckily(?), she hit a tree and bounced off of it twice, into another one, and that kept her from rolling almost all of the way down the backbone. It was pretty nasty, but it could have been a lot worse.

She's pretty soar in the neck, shoulder, and lower back. I got her to go for x-rays this afternoon, after her arm started to swell up pretty good. The Dr that checked her didn't think anything was broken, just a nice case of whiplash.

I've heard that chicks dig body damage, but always thought they were refering to off-road groupies or something. I didn't know they enjoyed trashing their own junk. Actually, I'm pretty sure she didn't enjoy this incident very much. I know I about messed up the old BVD's.

Crumpled side panel.

Rear corner.

Windshield Frame, complete with broken glass.

What I wanna know is, how freakin' sore were you this morning Kathy. You took a helluva wallop!! You guys on the board need to see the video, damn that YJ was moving when she hit the tree. I'm just glad that tree was there though...it's a looong way down the backbone. Could have been a lot worse. Hey Jim, get your wife a freakin' cage you dirtbag!!

Keep yer chin up JeepGirl, I expect to see you back out on the trail soon!!

Pretty Freakin! My right arm is sore and swollen and i have some fairly good pain in my neck (no not Jim).Lower back pain and all over soreness but most of that's just being old.
As for wheeling i quess that would depend on fixing my roll bar. FYI for all who can't see it in the picture, my roll bar tore away from the frame.I suck! At least Tater got it on video. Maybe i should stick to riding B-ahtch.

Re: NOT a Good Day at Haspin

Glad all is well Kathy. I can understand being sore. Jim is also just GREEN over Aarons flowing hair. Get him a wig!!!!!!

The bone can be a scary crash. Even on the side passes. I've seen it. So I am glad to see all is well even with the ribbing.
I'll include an old pic of my buddy (onetonjeeper) after a multible roll off the bone after hopping 3/4 of the way to the top, kicking the rear driveshaft and taking the brakelines out. It was bad but he/& pass were OK. The engine was pretty much held in by the hood as all the mounts broke and it was flapping around in the jeep like a hula girl on crack by the time it hit the bottom of the hill.

Bummer SweetPea! Good thing you're a tough old broad! You'll be fine when the swellin' goes down. Too bad I finally scrapped my old tub a couple of months ago.

Re: NOT a Good Day at Haspin

Sorry to hear about all your excitement... but glad 'damage' was primarily to steel and not you. Sounds like you were blessed.

Pls get well soon!
