Axle Weight

Well since nobody wants my narrow track 1979 vintage open diff. 3.55 geared axles with 79,000 miles on them from my CJ-7, I want to make a stand for them in my shed.(How's that for a run on sentence?) One on top of the other. OK, which one's lighter? The Dana or the corporate? My future son-in-law and I obviously want to put the lighter one on top. Any thoughts???? The front axle looks heavier but the AMC sure has a big punkin.

Re: Axle Weight

The Dana 30 will weight more with teh knuckles and crap on the ends. I'm not big guy, but I'd move my old AMC20 NT around by myself, the D30, was a bit more of a hassle to do that with. I'm guessing 50-75lbs heavier.

Re: Axle Weight

Thanks for the reply. I made a treated wood rack. 2 x 10 main pieces. I used a floor jack to move the D 30 into position. Then I used the future son-in-law to help me pick up the AMC 20. We handled it without a problem.
