Jeep CJ lighting problem

I have a 1981 Jeep CJ8.....when I turn on the lights all the lights work except for the headlights, so I thought I needed to clean out the dimmer switch. I did that and they worked for about ten minutes. So I replaced the dimmer switch and still no head lights. Anybody got any ideas?

Re: Jeep CJ lighting problem

How are the ground connections between the headlight bucket and the grill, and between the grill and the tub?

Are high and low beams both out?

Are the lights really out or just very dim?

Are they standard sealed beams?

Have relays been added to the circuit?

Get past there and it will be time to get out the DMM.
