\'88 D-30 Torque Spec Help
Putting an Aussie in Kathy's '88 YJ tomorrow, so I'm hunting down all of the torque specs tonight to have handy.
The Chilton's (ie: toilet paper) we got for it doesn't list ANY torque specs for the front diff, but only for the rear.
Searching here and elsewhere online I found a range of 45-60 ft# for the bearing caps, and from 55-80 ft# for the ring gear bolts.
The FSM for my '99 says 45# for the caps and 80# for the ring on the newer D-30. However, for the rear 35 it matches what the chiltons says for the 1988 bearing caps(57#) but says 80 again for the ring gear where the Chiltons says 55.
Can anyone shed a little light on this?
1- Why would the ring gear bolt specs be 25ft# different from an '88 D-35 to a '99 D-35, according to Chiltons -vs- FSM?
2- Why doesn't the Chiltons list anything for the front diff?
3- Why the heck did I buy her a locker for her birthday?
4- What do I torque the ring gear bolts and bearing caps to on a '88 D-30?
5- Will I ever quit babbling and post this question?
