oil leak

Hi

What's the best way to determine where oil is leaking from (85 CJ7, 258)?

Thanks
Patrick

Re: oil leak

Some dealerships and repair shops can add a U/V dye to your oil and check with a blcklight type device. I usually go to the car wash and steam everything off, then let it idle and watch where the oil flow comes from.

Re: oil leak

You can get the UV light and dye at Kragen. I think it's about $20.

Re: oil leak

Just get under your Jeep, clean everything up, oil pan, side of motor ext. Doesn't have to be spotless, just get the crud off.
Drive to work the next day, when you get home, get under there, and check it out. You should be able to see where the Fresh oil is.
