I just sold my '87 Wrangler. I had a 3 inch body lift and 33" tires. I am purchasing a new Unlimted and am thinking about upgrading the wheels and tires. This is primarily for "look". This is a daily driver. I am not planning on the Rubicon model right now, but that could always change.
What are your thoughts on size to upgrade to and what would be the minimum lift. I was thinking just 31"s and I don't know if a lift is required to fit those nicely.
I would probably be game for a 2 1/2" suspension lift...but not much more. 33s are nice but may be too big for daily driving. I loved the way they looked on the '87, but not familiar with TJs.

Why not just get the Rubi package. They come with 31" MTR's
later down the road you could always add a lift and put on some 33's, and you would have a really nice trail Jeep. But for the time being you would have a great DD, very road friendly, and a set of 31's (Factory installed)

For 31's I'd go with a 2" Old Man Emu lift. They ride well, handle well, flex well, and are affordable.

I thought they came with 245s from the factory????

I just got the new Unlimited home. I REALLY like it, although, coming from a Wrangler with a 3 inch lift and 33s this feels a little like driving a Taurus. The dealership is waiting on me to tell them what lift kit to use. This will be a street/highway vehicle, but I really think it needs at least a little lift, and I am now leaning toward putting 32s on it.
Any suggestions for a good/simple lift that will let me keep the same ride feel but clear the 32s?

I've been very pleased with my Old Man Emu 2" lift.

my 2" lift from 4WD (thier brand lift) hardware was cheap....used new springs, not spacers....and fits the 32's awesome...was 350$ or so plus shipping.

flexes and rides good, nothing else needed like driveshafts and brake lines
