TJ clutch fan went out.

After a few dunkings, the TJ clutch fan finally went out. Anyone tried any after market fans on their tjs? Im not sure I want to go the electric route but I dont think I can put a fixed fan on there or if that would even be a good idea. Any suggestions?

Re: TJ clutch fan went out.

Anyone have any recommendations on where to get one of these cheap? I called Napa and they were $60!! Wow! I wasnt expecting that. Will the clutch out of a grand cherokee work?? There is a junk yard close by that has several of those sitting around.

Re: TJ clutch fan went out.

Yeah, you have to replace the clutch, i did it on my old tj, i think it was around 50 from auto zone. I would keep your mechanical fan and not worry about an electric. They are a wearable item like u-joints and bearings and i'm not sure i'd get one from a junk yard unless it looked new. I did use a fan clutch from an xj on my yj. do a search on www.car-part.com and you should be able to figure out what interchanges.

Re: TJ clutch fan went out.

I checked all the places close to me on car-part.com and they want 35 for a used clutch. If i can find one local for around 50 i'll take a new on for sure. Thanks.
