Idling/stalling problem

Ok, my 89 yj runs like @$#%&!! right now and i cannot figure it out. When i idle at a like after comin to a complete stop or downshift when tryin to slow down,The idle drops real low or it just flat out stalls on me while im driving...Now ive checked all the vacuum lines,Tap and wiggle tested all wires goin to sensors and to the ECM(since i dont have a scanner to check everything that way),tried cleaning out the carb with carb cleaner/injector cleaner and im at a total loss of what it could be, any ideas?

Re: Idling/stalling problem

your carb probably has clogged idle tubes, do a search on the carter bbd carbuerator, and you will find all the information you need to fix your problem.

Re: Idling/stalling problem

You might try the Mexican Tune Up.

Rev it to about 2500, put your hand or a CLEAN rag over the top of the carburetor. Completely choke it off so it dies - hold it there till it stops.
It'll be hard to re-start - flooded - but get it going again.
Repeat one more time.

The vacuum generated by doing that sucks water and dirt out of the tiny passages. It's kinda like blowing your nose hard!

Doesn't always work, but if something is clogged it will. Worth a try, and cheap and easy.

Readjust idle mixture and idle speed screws after that.
