258 mech. fuel pump block off plate- which one?

So... I went to a speed shop and found two fuel-pump block-off plates. One looks like a diamon and has two bolt holes, the other looks like a rectangle with a pointed end and has four bolt holes. Which do I need for my 258?

You could look at the pump and see how many bolts hold it to the block.

I tired finding a blockoff plate and couldn't - so just took a piece of sheet metal and the grinder and made one. Used silicon for a gasket. Have not had a problem in 3 years.

I've heard it is the same as the Chevy Big Block. I know I've seen the chrom ones at the parts store that look very similar.

Re: 258 mech. fuel pump block off plate- which one?

Yup- my local Discount Auto had one, and the Automotive Engineering store had three different types to choose from.

Monday I should be picking up the gas-tank straps and installing a '90s F150 rear fuel tank into my J10. I'm going to hook up electric pumps to both tanks and run them on seperate fuel lines, with seperate filters, up to the inline fuel-pressure regulator before the carb. I'm going to take a headlight switch (the push-pull type) and install it in the dash below the current headlight switch. Wire it for OFF-Front-Rear selections and have the pump and corresponding sending unit activated by relay. I should be able to carry a little over 30 gallons of fuel this way, which should help with my trip to Uwharrie during the Memorial Day weekend (26-30). It's ~660 miles each way, and at (gestimated) 15mpg, I'll only have to stop for fuel once along the way.

What about the return line?

The electrical pumps I'm using say "Prevents vapor-lock, no return line needed". Otherwise, I'd get different filters with return lines and run them back to their respective tanks.

I take it you are running a carb still then. That will work.
