Re: TJ --- CB Power

battery directly is best, avoids interference from other electrical systems in heep

i've actually run a few radios (very low power requirement) off my Cig lighter circuit with good results....but thats not always the best method

Re: TJ --- CB Power

I ran a #6 wire into the cab and put in a fuse block and switch. Everything I run is relayed except the cb, so i can jump power off of that to any of the 5 cab switches I have. I like it because it brings a good bit of power into the jeep and being of heavy guage I can use the power for several Items. I go to the outside fuse block connector one side only has power when the ignition is on and that was the pole I tied into.

I plugged a wire with a spade connector into the radio port in the fuse block. It is switched with the ignition though.

I use a crappy old CB that I won't even tell about... and it plugs into the cigarette lighter. Would suggest that you wire it hot even when your Jeep is turned off. Several times folks where trying to yell... but I wasn't powered up. Guess that's one way to ignore everyone.

Just a thought.

Re: TJ --- CB Power

I ran in a fused wire from the battery, and also used to power cig lighter now too.

Re: TJ --- CB Power

Mine is a cigarette lighter plug with an inline fuse, basically because I only have the cb in the jeep when I'm on a trail run, so I can just plug in and go

Re: TJ --- CB Power

Speaking of CB's. I have a couple of handhelds and an old box unit mounted on a board with a cig lighter plug and mag mount antenna. Should I bring these to the bash? or does everyone have a CB?

Re: TJ --- CB Power

Thanks for all the good ideas. I am going to wire it straight to the battery with fuse protection to reduce the interferance and so I can use it with my ignition off.
