Re-Drilling Scout II Dana 44 spindle to 6 holes?
I was wondering if anyone has re-drilled the 8 hole Scout II Dana front axle spindle to six holes? I'm wanting to use my already paid for Dana 44 Scout II - spindles, rotors, disc brake calipers / brackets and outer axle shafts on my Dana 44 Cherokee axle which has flat top knuckles. If this is possible, let me know who I should get to do the re-drilling.

Couldn't Dutchman in Portland do for you? They'd probably weld up the old holes and drill new ones.

Holy de-ja-vu..
I don't know where it's coming from, but I honestly remember making this post before. http://img17.paintedover.com/uploads..._002_small.jpg bolt the sucker to a 6 bolt caliper bracket, and just drill away. it's not rocket science. |

Thanks Infernozx
A picture is worth a 1000 words. A search feature that could find your old post "priceless" dave |
Re: Re-Drilling Scout II Dana 44 spindle to 6 hole
I think you could just use a CJ dana 30 spindle... but it's been a while since I did this stuff..

Re: Re-Drilling Scout II Dana 44 spindle to 6 hole
Thanks Elusive,
Did you think the CJ Dana 30 brake caliper bracket & caliper would work with the Scout II disc brake rotor & hub assembly? This is assuming I find the early 77/78 (large) CJ Dana 30 brake caliper bracket & caliper. dave |
Re: Re-Drilling Scout II Dana 44 spindle to 6 hole
Yes they will work... outside of the 6 vs 8 hole deal on the bracket & spindle... they're identical. If you check the suppliers, the CJ "big brake" setup uses the same rotor & caliper as the Scout (seems like there was another that used them around the same time... Bronco/F-truck maybe?)
