Locking Lugnuts

Anyone know where I can get a set of anti-theft lugnuts for my CJ7. The problem I am finding is they only come in packs of four and I need five (one for the spare).

Re: Locking Lugnuts

I threw my 3 out. The one friggin time in 10 years I needed to change a flat and I couldn't find the key. I only had three because we had to cut the 4th one flat with a zip disk to remove it.

Re: Locking Lugnuts

I used McGard but I think a lot of the quality brands are the same. You buy the four and inside the package is an identification number for your pattern and an order form to order extra nuts and/or keys. BUT THEY AIN’T CHEAP!

Re: Locking Lugnuts

Look around at your auto parts stores. When I was working at checker last spring, we had some brands that had 4 per pack and others that came with 5

Re: Locking Lugnuts

I have to ask if crime is that bad around you. Not that they don't help, but they only slow me down about 10 to 30 seconds per wheel at work. So I would have to say that MOST criminals have the same tools (available to anyone) I do.
Just a thought.

(and I'm not talking a torch..........no need in trashing a set of enkie, BBS,lt model chrome, insert high dollar wheel that I get from time to time here)

Re: Locking Lugnuts

As my grandfather often said, “Locks only keep honest people honest.” The criminal will be one step ahead all the time but he’s after high dollar stuff. The wheel locks help with the punk kids and shall we say the “impulse shoppers”.

Re: Locking Lugnuts

I say they are useless.. and worse than useless when you inevitably don't have the key when you need it. I have personally broken 3 of them off on the trail bevcaue the owners needed to change the tire. one good whack with a hammer snaps the lug right off...
when is the lsat time you saw a 4x4 get the tires stolen off of it?

Re: Locking Lugnuts

I have to agree with elusive....worthless. It only takes seconds to get one off without the key....After loosing the key to my wifes's cherokee for the second time....I tossed them. Besides, they aren't taking the wheels any more....all the dirt bags are going after the 20-22" wheels which we would not put on our jeeps any way....RIGHT?

You are better off having a good alarm system that will make noise if they jack up the jeep to get the wheels.

Besides, if they want the wheels....they just take the whole jeep....that way they get the wheels and anything else they want.
