Are the trans in '86 and '87 s10's 700r4's or are they something different? I know the bellhousing is different since both the s10's have 2.8's in them. Also what t-case do they have? I could get the trans and t-case out of the 86 for a case of beer and i know i can pick up an s10 231 for 80 including the cash to go get them.
4wd's should be 700r4s. 88 & up are better though. Also, I found out with mine that 88 is able to be build with full hydraulic control for the lockup. No kit required and no electrical connections.
A case of beer is pretty cheap, but as you stated, that 60 degree bell pattern won't bolt to anything good, and I'm not sure if they're even adaptable.
all the parts mentions are not worth a boat anchor. The 2.8 will not hook up to anything but a 2.8. a 231 motor is a 3.8. none of these parts is worth the gas to go get them, even if they was free
I'm getting a 4.3 700r4 and t-case for $170 and i have to drive 2 1/2 hours to go get em (probably $50 with fuel at $2.22). I've heard the trans could be a 200 also, if it's a 700 i'll pull it and keep it for a spare.
The 4L60E from 94 up uses a seperate bellhousing. The one you are going after has a one piece housing/bellhousing. The 200 was a 2wd only from what I could find. If it has a transfer case, it is a 700.
