I did it, and shouldn\'t have done it, but...

I got desperate for a project, and bought a YJ..
I deserve all of the grief I can recieve...So go ahead and flame away... Nick,Jim,Keith, Dave (dirt), Aaron... Gaylord ( since you 2 are now butt buddies), Pat,....etc...
Anyway, the POS won't start.
It is threatened by a real jeep next to it.
If I have power to the coil ( Pos side 12v.), and no spark when I turn it over, wouldn't that point directly to a bad coil?
If not, what else might it be?
1988 6cyl
Thanks, Ricky...seeya...

I think it could be either the square headlights or the tire pressure might be too low!!! Post up some pix!!!

Re: I did it, and shouldn\'t have done it, but...

It could be the coil wire; check for spark at the distributor.

I've owned 2 XJs; they have square headlights,too....I can report no trouble with them seeing the road at night. Good Luck with your new Jeep!!

Won't start? Ask the Mrs. what color panties you need to wear next time. Bet it will fire right up.

(so what'd you buy Ricky?)

Re: I did it, and shouldn\'t have done it, but...

Probably didn't even stop to think about how much MountGay this will cost you in the long run either? (still cheaper than therapy)
OTOH, a quick swap with a real Jeep grill and your good... not that we'll forget your moment of "brilliance", but at least little kids won't giggle & point at you if you drive it around town!

So, what's the plan for it?

good lord... youve gone to the darkside... we will have to get the council together.. and have a meeting of the real jeepers... and see if that thing means a dismissal from being a real jeeper.. and your manhood..

check the distributor for that 800 ohms... (pickup).. if thats good... then id switch out that coil..

then the grill... hood.... that craptacular dash... ah.. hell.. just sell it to some pimpled faced computer nerd...

Don't worry about the square headlights, I'm sure that it will see the road and the trails well before the "Great Pumpkin"
