O/T - Anyone use Priceline or similar for airfare?

Well with my summer job in Colorado I've gotta fly from Chicago to Denver. I see ads for all these companies on TV all the time and I've checked out their websites. I'm just wondering if there's anything else behind what I see. Has anyone had any good or bad experiences with these companies? Let me know what you think of them.

Also if anyone here wants to buy me plane tickets and give them to me because they think I'm such a stand up guy let me know. LOL, ok....so maybe that won't happen.

I *think*... my moms used Expedia.ca a bunch..

It's VERY random and dumb luck I think.. booking WAY in advance gets you the big buck discounts.. I don't know what its like in the states, but somehow through a UK version of expedia.com.. .ca? my mom got tickets from Heathrow to DuGaulle for like 4euros a peice.

if you check ebay you can get the tickets for cheap that will take you anywhere that the airline goes . southwest for example or american airlines. or united, alaksa too. so check it out I was bidding on alaska air lines tickets to go where ever thay go to and they sold for about 534.37 I believe cause it was in another currency and it was giving a convertion.

We used priceline for the hotel in our trip to detriot for the auto show. My friend came up with the best way to do it. When doing a search on priceline, enter a ridiculously low price for you flight, like 5 dollars. Then, they will come back with a low-mid-high price you should use as a "target" price. Then, try to undercut the low price they suggest by about 50 bucks. You might get lucky, and you might not. If you don't get lucky, under try it again at 45 under thier low price.

The only thing to watch for w/ Priceline ( I think) is that they won't give you flight times until AFTER you pay for the tickets...I used cheapticket.com and got round trip tickets from NC to CA for 215.00...also if you have more than on airport you can leave from check the prices on all of them...the $$$ difference will suprise you.. I know it did me

When we bought tickets for Vegas, we got them cheaper through the airline (Southwest). We saved about $200.00 booking the flight and hotel ourselves.

Going to Vegas in May.... I had nothing to do with buying tickets etc etc... but trust me those people are shoppers to the bone...

Direct to the airline and motel provided the best prices.
