Help me keep my Jeep alive!

I have a 98 TJ that needs a new/rebuilt engine. The only other thing that needs to be replaced is the radiator...and probably the battery.

Any suggestions? I'm a bit weary of getting a rebuilt engine...

I'm in the LA area.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the board.

You might want to consider Jasper Engines

Not the cheapest option, but they build a quality engine and have a national warranty.

You can get a price from the website and find an installer there too.

Good luck,

I second the junkyard engine.
Cheap enough
They are not that hard to replace.

Re: Help me keep my Jeep alive!

Give me a call I have some conections in the OC and LA area wrecking yards and if you are looking for the most enexpensive way to go listen to the critics they are the ones sau=ying the wrecking yards are the way to go. we try not to call them junk yards they are realy salvage yards, good parts and some scrap parts.

(562) 244-1524 I am working night for the time being so call between 1:30pm and 4:30am.

Re: Help me keep my Jeep alive!

You guys rock. Thanks for the advice!

Its a 2.5L engine... according to my friend who worked for Mopar (he checked out the engine), a freeze plug blew and drained my radiator, then locked 3 of the 4 cylinders. The block is cracked, too. So no saving anything there...

My truck only had 98000 mi on it, too. Not just that...but all of the maintenance records, and I got it serviced like clockwork.

Just an unfortunate, and EXPENSIVE, turn of events.

Re: Help me keep my Jeep alive!

a junk yard should be able to get you a new one for 1000 or so....

i've always had great luck with www.car-parts.com its a webpage that has info from a bunch of salvage yards....theres usually some that do installation of the parts if you need it
