Stuck Tie Rod....HELP!

Hi,

I posted over on the ford forum too, but there's more people here it seems. I have a 93 F150 with a bad steering box and I need to get the tie rod off the pitman arm to replace it. It's stuck real good. We've beat the hell out of it with the seperator and it's not budging. We tried putting some heat to it, but to no avail. Any ideas?? I hate to put it back together and drive it to a garage.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Stuck Tie Rod....HELP!

if your replaing the box, just dont take it off. just pull the pitman arm off the box and leave the tie rod conected...

heat where it goes into if you must take it off with a real torch.
you will probably have to do the same foe the pitman arm.

Re: Stuck Tie Rod....HELP!

Hi guys, thanks for the help. We got it. Heated it up with mapp gas then stuck ice cubes on the tie rod shaft. Couple of good whacks and it came out.

THANKS,
